Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): One South Africa returnee hails from Ganjam district of Odisha, has tested Covid-19 positive. Meanwhile, the affected person condition is stable, sources said.
The information has been given by the Director of Public Health Dr Niranjan Mishra.
“One South Africa returnee from Ganjam tested positive. He is symptomatic even though his condition is stable. He has been hospitalised while his family members have been kept under home isolation,” said Mishra.
“We have sent the sample to Institute of Life Science (ILS), Bhubaneswar for the genome sequencing,” he added.
the State Government had administered vaccine shot against the infectious diseases to 21, 914 beneficiaries including health workers, frontline warriors, senior citizens and people above 45 years of age with co-morbidities across the State on Monday.
Similarly, 1,041 health workers and 2424 frontline warriors had received the first dose of the Covid-19 vaccine yesterday while 6,860 health professionals received the second dose, Health Director Bijay Panigrahy said.
Not a single case of adverse event has been reported from anywhere across the State so far, he pointed out, adding the vaccination exercise is underway smoothly today.
Some people had faced problems during on-line registration due to server down in the Co-Win app, which has already been sorted out, he said.
People can also register themselves onsite with relevant documents and avail the benefit. As many as 264 sessions’ sites have been set up so far and the figure will increase gradually, Panigrahy maintained.
“The inoculation drive will be carried out five days in a week in urban areas while it will be three days at all Community Health Centres (CHCs) across the State,” he added.
