Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Regional Meteorological Centre, here on Thursday issued heavy rainfall alert for several districts of Odisha till October 18 after a formation of a low pressure area over the Bay of Bengal.

According to IMD statement, the low pressure area over Eastcentral Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood now lies over northern parts of Central Bay of Bengal & neighbourhood and the associated cyclonic circulation extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level tilting southwestwards with height. It is likely to move westnorthwards and reach south Odisha and north Andhra Pradesh coasts during next 24 hours.

Besides, the heavy rain may lash north, north coastal, south coastal and southern districts till October 19. The Yellow warning has been issued for many districts till October 18.

Day 1 (valid from Oct 14 afternoon to Oct 15 morning)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at a few places
over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Angul, Malkangiri, Koraput and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha

Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal.

Day 2 (valid from Oct 15 morning to Oct 16 morning)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at a few places over the districts of Interior Odisha.

Yellow warning: Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara,
Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Mayurbhanj, Keonjhar, Dhenkanal, Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kandhamal and Rayagada.

Day 3 (valid from Oct 16 morning to Oct 17 morning)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow warning: 1.Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore, Bhadrak, Kendrapara Jagatsinghpur and Puri.
2.Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Koraput, Malkangiri, Rayagada and Kandhamal.

Day 4 (valid from Oct 17 morning to Oct 18 morning)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Mayurbhanj, Balasore and Bhadrak.

Day 5 (valid from Oct 18 morning to Oct 19 morning)

Forecast: Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of North Odisha and at a few places over the districts of South Odisha.

No Warning

Under the influence of a Low Pressure Area over northern parts of Central Bay of Bengal, squally weather with surface wind speed reaching 40-50 kmph very likely over central Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast during 14th and 15th October, 2021 and over Central Bay of Bengal and north Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast during 16th to 18th October, 2021.

Fishermen are advised not to venture into the deep sea areas of central Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast during 14th and 15th October, 2021 and over Central Bay of Bengal and north Bay of Bengal off Odisha coast during 16th to 18th October, 2021.
