Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) forecasting the intensification of a low-pressure system over Bay of Bengal in next two days, informed the Odisha Special Relief Commissioner (SRC).
SRC has issued an alert for the district administrative heads of all districts in State.
As per the midday bulletin issued by the IMD’s Regional Met Centre in Bhubaneswar, the cyclonic circulation over the North Andaman Sea & neighbourhood persists and now extends upto 4.5 km above mean sea level.
Under the influence of this cyclonic circulation, a low-pressure area is likely to form over east-central Bay of Bengal & adjoining north Andaman Sea during next 48 hours.
After intensification, the system is likely to move west-northwestwards and reach south Odisha-north Andhra Pradesh coasts during subsequent 48 hours.
The IMD has issued detailed forecast and warning for the entire State for the next five days. According to the bulletin, no warning has been issued for Odisha till October 15. However, a forecast of light to moderate rainfall and thunderstorm activity has been sounded for several districts of the State during the period.
From the period of October 15 to October 17, the weather agency has issued Yellow Warning for several districts below:
Day 1 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 15.10.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 16.10.2021)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of coastal odisha and at a few places over the districts of Koraput, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Malkangiri and at one or two places over the rest districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning:
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapra, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar.
Day 2 (Valid from 0830 hrs IST of 16.10.2021 upto 0830 hrs IST of 17.10.2021)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at many places over the districts of Odisha.
Yellow Warning:
Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Ganjam, Puri, Jagatsinghpur and Kandhamal.
Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khurda, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Koraput, Rayagada, Kandhamal, Boudh, Angul, Dhenkanal and Mayurbhanj.
