Malkangiri (SunstarTV Bureau): Three Maoists including two women were killed during a gun fight in between the extremists and police personnel in Tulasi Forest Range under Mathili police limits in Odisha’s Malkangiri district today, informed DGP Abhay.
Acting on a tip off, a joint team of the SOG and Malkangiri DVF had launched a combing operation in the area. During the operation, several Maoists, who were hiding the forest, opened fire at the security forces, the DGP said.
In retaliation by the jawans, three Maoists sustained bullet injuries and died, the top cop said. Bodies of the three Maoists were recovered from the place while two guns have been seized from the spot, he said.
Combing and search operations were underway in the area, the police official added.
