SunstarTV Bureau: Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee was sworn in by Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Thursday.
As a result, Mamata Banerjee, who is still acting as West Bengal’s chief minister, has got a membership in the House. In the last West Bengal Assembly elections, Trinamool leader Mamata Banerjee lost to Nandigram by contesting. However, Mamata Banerjee became the chief minister when the government was formed as her party won a majority in the election.
As Mamata was not a member of the Legislative Assembly, she had to re-examine her fate in the by-elections. She has won a majority from his traditional Bhawanipur constituency. However, the swearing-in of Mamata’s office and secrecy in the Legislative Assembly raised questions. The governor has revoked speaker’s ability to swear in members of the Dhankhar assembly. So there was a dilemma as to whether Mamata would be sworn-in in the Assembly or go to the Raj Bhavan.
The governor, however, paused in the face of all speculation and came to the assembly on Thursday to administer the oath of office and secrecy to Mamata. Along with Mamata, Governor TMC MLAs Amirul Islam and Zakir Hussain were also sworn in as MLAs.
