Cyclone Jawad likely to hit Odisha this month!

Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), informed that due to low pressure areas over Bay of Bengal between October 8 and 14, the movement of one of the forecasted systems towards Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coasts.

As per IMD report, a system is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around October 12 with movement towards Odisha-Andhra Pradesh coasts. The model further indicates that the system is likely to cross the coast around October 15.

On the other hand, the ECMWF model indicates that the system may approach Visakhapatnam-Kakinada coasts around October 15. If the system intensifies into a cyclonic storm, it will be named as Cyclone Jawad.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) was yet to make any forecast in this connection.

The agency in its ‘North Indian Ocean Extended Range Outlook for Cyclogenesis’ issued on September 30 had forecasted formation of two low pressure areas over Bay of Bengal between October 8 and 14.

Worth mentioning, the 1999 Super Cyclone, Cyclone Phailin (2013), Cyclone Hudhud (2014) and Cyclone Titli (2018) occured in the month of October.
