Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The India Meteorological Department (IMD) today informed that under influence of Deep Depression over the Bay of Bengal (BoB) wreaked havoc in Odisha another cyclonic circulation formed over the Bay on Thursday.
DG Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra said, “A cyclonic circulation lies over eastcentral Bay of Bengal and adjoining Myanmar coast and extends upto 5.8 km above mean sea level. It is likely to move westnorthwestwards and reach northwest Bay of Bengal off north Odisha and West Bengal coasts around September 18.”
Light to moderate rainfall is likely to occur in northern region of Odisha from September 18 evening.
Districts – Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Mayurbhanj and Keonjhar – may receive light to moderate rainfall between September 19 and 20.
“Due to deep depression over BoB this week, the quantum rainfall under influence of cyclonic circulation likely to be minimal,” said Dr. Mohapatra.
