Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Odisha may experience more downpour ahead as another cyclonic circulation is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal this week.
While the intense rain spells under influence of deep depression over the Bay of Bengal may trigger flood-like situation in Odisha, one more low pressure area is likely to form under influence of cyclonic circulation over north Bay of Bengal around September 17.
“A cyclonic circulation is likely over north Bay of Bengal around September 17. It may move northwestward and reach Odisha coast by September 18. Under influence of the system, rainfall may occur in the State from September 17,” informed India Meteorological Department DG Mrutyunjay Mohapatra today.
As per the latest weather bulletin, heavy to very heavy rainfall at a few places with extremely heavy (>20cm) falls at one or two places very likely to occur over the districts of Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Sonepur, Dhenkanal, Jharsuguda and Bargarh.
Similarly, orange warning has been issued for 12 districts — Balangir, Sundargarh, Boudh, Keonjhar, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Kendrapada, Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur and Cuttack — where heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places very likely to occur today. The warning will remain valid till tomorrow morning.
