Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The most awaited Pipili bypoll which was prior postponed due to COVID pandemic, will be held on September 30, informed the Election Commission on Saturday.
According to reports, the Pipili seat remained vacant after the death of former minister Pradeep Maharathi. Later the bypoll date was announced by the Election Commission. But few days before the bypoll, Congress candidate Ajit Mangraj, passed away.
The Election Commission has indefinitely banned the by-elections in the state after witnessing major COVID cases, while preparing for re-election.
Now after administering the decreasing amount of COVID cases in Odisha, the Election Commission has decided to hold another election. The bypoll will be held on September 30. Later the election, the vote counted will be on October 3. The Election Commission will announce the results on the same day, informed Election Commission.
Similarly, West Bengal has announced the date for the elections. The commission has also announced election dates for the three vacant seats in the state.
