Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Regional Meteorological Centre, Bhubaneswar on Friday informed that Odisha may receive heavy rainfall in upcoming days as a fresh low pressure is likely to form over Bay of Bengal off West Bengal coasts by tomorrow.
“A cyclonic circulation lies over Northwest Bay of Bengal off West Bengal coast and extends upto 3.1 km above mean sea level tilting southwards with height. Under its influence, a low pressure area is likely to form over Northwest & adjoining West central Bay of Bengal by tomorrow, the 28th august, 2021,” the weather bulletin contained.
The IMD issued heavy rainfall alert for several districts in Odisha for next three days.
Day 1 (valid from 1.30 PM of Aug 27 upto 8.30 AM of Aug 28)
Yellow warning
1. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Gajapati, Ganjam, Puri, Khordha, Jagatsinghpur, Nayagarh, Cuttack, Angul, Deogarh and Kandhamal.
2.Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal, Kandhamal, Boudh, Rayagada, Koraput and Malkangiri.
Day 2 (valid from 8.30 AM of Aug 28 upto 8.30 AM of Aug 29)
Yellow warning
1. Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Kalahandi, Kandhamal, Rayagada, Gajapati and Ganjam.
2.Thunderstorm with lightning very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Balasore, Bhadrak, Jajpur, Kendrapara, Cuttack,
Jagatsinghpur, Puri, Khordha, Nayagarh, Ganjam, Gajapati, Keonjhar, Mayurbhanj, Angul, Dhenkanal and Boudh.
Day 3 (valid from 8.30 AM of Aug 29 upto 8.30 AM of Aug 30)
Yellow warning
1.Heavy rainfall very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Koraput, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Bolangir, Bargarh, Jharsuguda and Sundargarh.
2.Yesterday, light to moderate rain/thundershower had occurred at most places over the districts of Coastal Odisha and at many places over the districts of interior Odisha with heavy to very heavy rainfall at one or two places over the district of Cuttack of North Coastal Odisha and heavy rainfall at one or two places over the districts of Khordha of south coastal Odisha, Sundargarh and Mayurbhanj of north interior Odisha.
