United Nations (SunstarTV Bureau): More than 12 Million people are under acutely food insecure after the chaos takes place in Afghanistan, informed the Food Agency of the United Nations (UN).
Meanwhile, the United Nations office for the Co-ordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) informed Yesterday that thousands of people are fleeing and some trying to flee through Kabul airport. This year, at least 7,35,000 people returned to Afghanistan from Iran, Pakistan and other countries. Those need an urgent humanitarian aid.
According to Xinhua news agency, an another 5,50,000 people became internally displaced since January month.
However, an acute malnutrition also increased by 16 percent which impacting at least 9,00,000 people and moderate acute malnutrition increased by 11 percent hitting 3.1 million child, informed the humanitarians.
“Due to poor pastures and feed availability, a below average wheat harvest is expected and the livestock yield is forecast to be weak. The food prices continue to escalate. The cost of wheat, rice, sugar and cooking increased by 50 percent comparatively with pre-covid prices.” said OCHA.
The UN humanitarian response plan for Afghanistan remains just 37 per cent funded.
