Tokyo/Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): One an only athlete from Odisha, ace sprinter Dutee Chand failed to qualify for semifinals of the women’s 200m event in Tokyo Olympics as she finished her last,7th, in heat 4 of the preliminary round on Monday.
According to reports, the ace sprinter clocked 23.85 seconds to complete the race and registered her season best performance. As per rules, first three athletes in each heat and next three fastest runners from all heats advances to the semifinals, which will be held today (Monday). Meanwhile, the final has been scheduled to take place on Tuesday (tomorrow).
Pertaining to mention here that, Dutee had on July 30 failed to qualify for semifinals of women’s 100m event as she managed to secure 7th place in heat 5 with a timing of 11.54 seconds.
