Ganjam (SunstarTV Bureau): How can love for someone took a U Turn and an unexpected happenings takes place been proved after a man burnt alive his girlfriend at Pratapur village under Purushottampur police limits in Odisha’s Ganjam district, yesterday night.

Reportedly, the accused Krushna Chandra Sahu of Pratapur was in a relationship with 25-year-old Subhasmita Khadanga of Kalamba village in Balipadar area of the district.

Yesterday, Krushna Chandra asked Subhasmita to come to his village. As she reached the locality, he took the girl to an abandoned house, poured petrol on her and set her ablaze.

Hearing the screams of the girl for help, locals rushed to the spot and informed the police. She was rescued by cops in a half-charred state and rushed to the Purushottampur Hospital for treatment. Her statement was recorded at the hospital in the presence of the Executive Magistrate and local Tehsildar.

She was later shifted to the MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur, where she succumbed to burn injuries during treatment.

The police traced the mobile phone location of the accused and nabbed him at Keshapur Chhak. He has been arrested while further probe was underway.
