SunstarTV Bureau: India to send total 126 athlete in different disciplines to Tokyo for representing the country at the Olympics which begins from July 23.
The total strength of the Indian contingent including coaches and staff is total 227. This is the biggest-ever player bunch, India is sending to any Olympics.
A number of debutants also highest in the Olympic history of India. The notable name being Bhavani Devi, who is the first Indian fencer to qualify for the Olympics.
Nethra Kumanan is the first-ever female sailor from India to qualify for the Olympics, while Sajan Prakash and Srihari Nataraj are the first swimmers from India to qualify for Olympic games by achieving the “A” qualification standard in swimming.
