Paralakhemundi (SunstarTV Bureau): A State forest official named Soumya Ranjan Mohapatra, Assistant Conservator of Forest, Paralakhemundi, who last night had sustained critical burn injuries in a fire mishap at his residence, dies while undergoing treatment at hospital wee hours ago.
The neighbours rushed to the official’s house after a scream of his wife, where they found Soumya Ranjan’s half charred body.
They rescued the forest official and rushed to Gajapati District Headquarters hospital, then to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur.
After administering the deteriorate health condition, he later shifted to SCB Medical College and Hospital in Cuttack.
However, he breathed his last at the hospital.
Besides, Police reached the mishap happened place and started an investigation to ascertain whether the incident was an accident or suicide attempt.
