As a Member of Parliament, Sarangi has proved her credentials which have brought her closer to the people. Not just Bhubaneswar, the whole of Odisha loves her never-die spirit.
Born in a conservative family at Bhagalpur, Bihar, sarangi’s parents were both actively involved in the field of education. She too was a scholar student throughout. One thing that differentiated her from others was her leadership skill, which was there right from her schooling days.
Subsequently, she cleared the quintessential civil services examination in 1994 at the age of 24. After her training period, she joined Indian Administrative Service from 1994 batch of Odisha cadre. In 1996, she served as Sub-Collector of three sub Divisions and Additional District Magistrate as well. From 1998 to 2006, she served as Collector and District Magistrate of Khurda, Nuapada, Koraput and Bargarh districts.
From 2006 to 2009, she served as the Commissioner of Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation during which her beautification drive made her a household name.
In 2009, she was appointed Secretary in various departments like School Education, Panchay6ati Raj and Textile in Government of Odisha. Sarangi was awarded with the Sakti Samman in 2012 for her contribution to the field of administration and woman empowerment.
In 2013, she was sent on central deputation and joined as joint Secretary for Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India. Finally, she retired as a civil servant in 2018, a decision that raised quite a many eyebrows that time.
After voluntarily retiring as a civil servant, Sarangi joined the Bharatiya Janata Party and later contested elections from Bhubaneswar constituency. After winning from Bhubaneswar as Member of Parliament, she was appointed as the spokesperson of the Bharatiya Janata Party. Currently, Sarangi is focused on helping her constituency people battle the deadly corona virus. She has been in constant out to the needy families and providing assistance to them.
Truly, Aparajita Sarangi is a gem of a person who has won the hearts of people through her indomitable spirit and love for social work. She continues to remain as an inspiration for the woman community.
Recently Modi Government makeover some changes in his ministry encircle. Many question rose as she didn’t get opportunity to make a bench mark in the Modi ministry camp. But still she is happy with the decision taken by Modi Government. She is also in a busy schedule as she has tons of work within her constituency.
