Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Odisha government was taking steps to achieve the objective of making the State slum-free by 2023 as outlined in the Vision 2023 announced by the State Urban Development minister Pratap Jena on Friday.
By adressing to media Jena said, “Currently there are 2,992 slums with a population of 70,000 in the state. These will be completely developed with focus on electricity, roads, education and health.”
“The slums will be de-notified and for state’s Urban development government aid, a sum of total 25 percent from the noted money would be invest on the development of slums, said Jena.
Earlier, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik announced that all slums in the State will be converted into Adarsh (ideal) colonies within the next three years.Launching the stage II of JAGA Mission, Naveen said the process will start immediately in 1,000 slums and then scaled up to cover every slum in the State. Odisha will be made slum-free in the next three years.
