Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): V K Pandian, the private secretary to chief minister Naveen Patnaik has awarded with the FIH Presidents’ Award for his contribution towards development and promotion of hockey in Odisha.
The Hockey India on Saturday announced the news with its twitter handle.
A virtual conference organized by FIH as part of its 47th FIH Congress conclude with the FIH Honorary Awards giving recognition to numerous individuals, teams and organisations for their outstanding contributions to the sport of hockey.
With the twitter handle by Hockey India, it tweeted, “Congratulations to Mr. V Karthikeyan Pandian, IAS, and Private Secretary Private Secretary to Chief Minister, Odisha, on being recognised with the FIH Presidents Award during the 47th FIH Congress today.”
“A well-deserved acknowledgment for his outstanding contribution and services to hockey in Odisha,” further twitted Hockey India.
According to official sources, Pandian, a 2000 batch IAS officer, has been personally monitoring progress of infrastructure development at Rourkela, which has been selected as the second venue for the men’s hockey world cup scheduled in 2023 along with Bhubaneswar. The Odisha Government has announced its plan to develop country’s largest hockey stadium at Rourkela with an investment of around Rs 120 crore.
