Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): After the deadly virus of COVID-19, an another Black fungus or mucormycosis has become another cause of concern where with 11 cases of the serious fungal infection detected in State yet.
According to the Health Department information, as many as 11 cases of black fungus have been detected in the state till date.
Meanwhile, out-of 11 patients, 10 are undergoing treatment in critical condition. However, one patient has died to the disease.
Although, the cases have been reported from different parts of the state, all are being treated in Bhubaneswar.
“The state Government has sought health documents of these patients from the concerned hospitals. Once we receive the data, we will further look into cases,” the department sources added.
Earlier yesterday, Odisha Government declared black fungus as a notifiable disease under the Epidemic Diseases Act.
“Mucormycosis or black fungus has been included as a notifiable disease by exercising the power conferred by Section 2 of the Epidemic Diseases Act, 1897 (3 of 1897) until further orders,” said an official statement issued by the Health and Family Welfare Department.
