Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): As many as 10,413 Covid-19 cases which is the biggest ever spike of the last 24 hours recorded in Odisha on Saturday. Ever since the outbreak of the pandemic in the State last year.
A data revealed by the State Health and Family Welfare (H&FW) Department informed that, at least 11 patients succumbed to the deadly virus in last 24 hours.
Along with this, the positive tally have surged to 4,54,607 while the death toll stood at 2,054 in state yet.
Meanwhile, Odisha currently has 67,086 active cases and the recovery rate stands at 3,85,414, informed the H&FW Department.
According to the State Information and Public Relations (I&PR) Department released data, the new Covid-19 cases were reported from 30 districts, where 5,887 were detected from various quarantine centres, and the rest 4,526 were detected during contact tracing.
Total four deaths were registered in Khordha, two deaths in Sundargarh and one each in Boudh, Puri, Rayagada, Koraput and Kalahandi districts.
Of the new cases reported on Saturday, Khordha district, of which state capital Bhubaneswar is a part, detected the maximum 1,796 cases, followed by Sundargarh (1100), Cuttack (828), Puri (533) and Bargarh (511).
At least 19 other districts recorded more than 100 cases. Those are Jharsuguda (442), Sambalpur (426), Nuapada (418), Angul (392), Nabarangpur (378), Kalahandi (376), Jajpur (332), Mayurbhanj (247), Jagatsinghpur (241), Ganjam (232), Nayagarh (218), Bhadrak (201), Rayagada (200), Bolangir (160), Gajapati (156), Sonepur (130), Keonjhar (126), Balasore (124) and Deogarh (103).
Other districts which reported less than 100 cases are- Boudh (87), Kendrapara (77), Koraput (68), Kandhamal (55), Malkangiri (54) and Dhenkanal (42).
As many as 1,01,34,118 samples were tested in the state so far, including 47,462 on Friday. The coastal state’s positivity rate stands at 4.49 per cent.
