Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Continuing its alarming trend of massive case surges, Odisha reported 6,164 new COVID-19 cases from the last 24 hours on Thursday pushing the cumulative tally to 3,88,479 with 35,075 active cases.
According to sources, total 3575 cases have been detected from quarantine, 2589 infections are local contacts.
The fatality rate in the State also continues to rise with seven more deaths in the last 24 hours. The total number of deaths due to the deadly virus has jumped to 1965, official sources confirmed.
Meanwhile, as many as 2009 patients have recovered during the period pushing the cumulative recovery figure to 351386 in the State.
Besides, Khordha registered the highest number of cases as 1,132 more persons in the district contracted the virus. Following Nuapada district records second highest Covid-19 detection with 459 cases whuke Kalahandi with 452 cases stood third.
Sundergarh secured fourth position with 427 new infections followed by Cuttack(360), Jharsuguda (355), Puri (286), Bargarh (236) and Sambalpur (229).
Similarly, Biolangir district reported 226 fresh cases in the last 24 hours while Nabarangpur witnessed 207 cases. And Keonjhar added 205 new infections.
