Odisha: Contractual worker attempts self-immolation in Sambalpur University

Sambalpur (SunstarTV Bureau): With a shocking incident occurred during academic council meeting at Sambalpur University on Monday when a contractual employee working under the varsity attempted self-immolation.

According to sources, the contractual employee identified as Dinabandhu Mishra has been admitted to Burla hospital in critical condition.

However, people present at the meeting rushed to the spot and doused the flames by using fire extinguisher. He was later rushed to Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Research (VIMSAR) Burla for treatment in critical condition.

Sources claim Dinabandhu, who was working at the educational institution on contractual basis for a long time, took the extreme step after being unable to bear the insult by the university Vice-Chancellor.
