Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Odisha while undergoing with the second wave of Covid-19 pandemic, on Tuesday the State witnessed a massive spike of 4761 Covid-19 cases in a day. However, 5 more deaths case recorded in the last 24 hours.
The death toll due to the virus infections meanwhile has risen to 1,953. As many as 5 patients have succumbed to the disease in the last one day with Nuapada alone recorded with 3 death cases.
According to the State I&PR department, the last 24 hours recorded the highest ever tally of daily Covid-19 infections in Odisha since the outbreak of the pandemic last year. Along with this, the total number of Covid cases in the State has now climbed up to 3,77,464.
With 1,503 recoveries as on April 19, a total of 3,47,637 number of patients have been cleared free from the disease so far which means the active cases now remain at 27,821.
Meanwhile, 3 districts in the State have reported more than 500 plus cases of virus infections with Khordha being the worst hit at 820 cases.
Following Khordha, Sundargarh is the second in the list with 673 positives and Nuapada reporting 534 cases. Others as Jharsuguda with 234 cases and Bolangir 322 cases are accounting for sizeable amount of daily surge in the Covid-19 positive infections today.
As per data available with the government a total of 2,785 cases have been reported from quarantine facilities in the last 24 hours while the remaining 1,976 positives are from local contacts.
