Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): By bringing laurels to Odisha, a team of 10 school students from state created by Navonmesh Prasar Student Astronomy Team (NaPSAT), bagged third prize in NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge-2021.
By this, the team has created history as an Indian team who won in the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge for the very first time.
Moreover, the team also won the Videography Award in the prestigious competition.
NaPSAT is an initiative of Bhubaneswar-based Navonmesh Prasar Foundation. The team comprised space enthusiasts who were engaged in projects like design of space systems, rovers, rockets, and satellites for the event.
The ten school students were selected during the COVID time, last year and given training for the competition.
The team had created a rover which can move on the surface of Mars.
Notably, The NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge features an engineering design challenge every year to engage the students worldwide in the next phase of human space exploration. The annual event is a more complex follow-up to the successful NASA’s Great Moonbuggy Race. The competition challenges high school and college students to create a vehicle designed to traverse the simulated surface of another world.
