Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): In the view of the drastically soaring Covid-19 cases in Odisha, the State government on Thursday has decided to clamp stricter restriction in the form of night curfew across the State and weekend shutdown in 10 districts bordering Chhattishgarh to contain the spread of deadly virus.
The announcement was made by the State Chief Secretary Suresh Mohapatra today.
As per the latest announcement, the State government has decided to clamp night curfew in urban areas of 20 districts including the Twin Cities of Cuttack and Bhubaneswar which will come into force from tomorrow. The restrictions will be clamped from 9 pm to 5 am.
According to Mohapatra, the State government today revised the timings of night curfew which is already in force in 10 districts of the State sharing borders with Chhattisgarh.
“As per the decision, the timings of night curfew in these 10 districts has been revised. Now the night curfew restrictions will be imposed from 6 pm to 5 am and will remain in force till further orders,” said Mohapatra.
At present, night curfew is in force in 10 districts- Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Bargarh, Balangir, Nuapada, Kalahandi, Nabarangpur, Koraput and Malkangiri from 10 pm to 5 am.
Meanwhile, restrictions on vehicle and buses were also made by the Odisha government on behalf of COVID-19.
