Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): On the very occasion of 50th Convocation ceremony of Utkal University, the honorable Vice-President of India M. Venkaiah Naidu will grace the ceremony as a chief guest, in new convocation hall inside university’s premise on April 3.
Along with him, Odisha governor and Chancellor of Utkal University Prof. Ganeshi Lal and Minister of Agriculture and Farmers’ empowernment, Fisheries and Animal Resources Development, Higher education minister Arun Kumar Sahoo will preside over the ceremony.
For this on Wednesday a press conference has organized in Academic Council Hall, RUSA Bhawan in Utkal University.
University’s Vice-Chancellor Sabita Acharya has chaired the meeting. During the press-meet, she putted light on the observance of 50th convocation ceremony to media.
On this occasion a total of 41 PhD degrees, 90 Gold medalists will be conferred to five eminent Odias who have excelled in different fields in the country as ShaktiKanta Das, Girish Chandra Murmu, Kumari Justice Sanju Panda, Dr. Ajit Kumar Mohanty, Dr. Bijaya Kumar Sahoo.
Due to Covid-19 restriction last year, the university could not hold its convocation ceremony. Meanwhile, a pre-convocation award giving ceremony will be held on April 1 this year to award DLitt/PhD to 130 scholars and 90 gold medalists of the 2018-19 academic sessions.
Dr. Sudhakar Panda, Director, NISER, Bhubaneswar will grace the ceremony as chief guest on that day.
Keeping in mind the Standard Operation Procedure (SOP) guidelines for Covid-19, a maximum of 500 participants will be allowed in the convocation hall. Meanwhile, all the staffs and students who will be in close proximity of the dias will undergo rapid antigen tests.
