SunstarTV Bureau: Yesterday in an unfortunate incident, a Class 10 student drowned while taking bath in the Mahanadi River after celebrating Holi festivities.
According to reports, the student along with his relatives had gone to a ghat (stepped bathing place) under Mahanadi Bridge in Sonepur town to take bath after Holi celebration.
Source said that the minor boy was swept away in the strong current of water during bath.
The family members brought him to the District Headquarters Hospital (DHH), Subarnapur, where he was declared dead.
The deceased has been identified as Sumit Meher, a resident of Block Chhak in Sonepur town.
