Sambalpur (SunstarTV Bureau): As many as 18 senior students at Veer Surendra Sai Institute of Medical Sciences and Reserch (VIMSAR), Burla here were fined with Rs 54,000 on a chrge of ragging their juniors at the institute.
The collective fine was collected after the recommendations of the anti-ragging committee of the institute.
However, the erring students are also issued warning letter against assurance of the illicit activities. Furthermore, their parents have been too apprised regarding the matter, informed VIMSAR Dean Jayashree Dora.
Notably, few days back a second year MBBS students has leveled raging allegation against four of students. They had reported the ragging incident during the visit of anti-ragging squad to the hostel. Later, the squad had taken the matter to the notice of the dean-cum principal. Subsequently, the principal directed the anti-ragging cell to launch a probe and verify the veracity of the allegations.
