Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The School and Mass Education Department on Tuesday has issued a notification regarding all students from standard 1 to 8 will be promoted to next class without conducting any examination for the academic session 2020-20.
The initiative has taken amid the wake of Covid-19 pandemic which has completely wiped away the physical classes of the students from class 1 to 8 since March 2020.
Meanwhile, the decision will be applicable to all Government, Government abed and all un-aided private schools under the School and Mass Education Department.
“I am directed to say that Government has been pleased to approve the proposal that there will be examination/ assessment test during the academic session 2020-21 for Class I to VI if students of the said classes will be promoted to the next higher class, due to the Covid-19 pandemic situation in the State,” the State Mass Education department stated in its notification dated March 16.
Recently, the Mass Education department minister Samir Ranjan Dash has informed that the new academic session may not start from April 2021 due to the summer vacation and scare of new strain Covid virus in several other states.
