SunstarTV Bureau: Leaders of four democracies, including the United States, Japan, India and Australia, who want to counter China’s growing influence, will be the first to attend the ‘Quad’ meeting.
Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison told reporters in Sydney on Friday that this would be a feature of the Indo-Pacific region meeting. He did not elaborate on the details and timing of the meeting, which is expected to be held via video conferencing.
“It will be a meeting of the four leaders of the four countries working together for peace, prosperity and stability in the Indo-Pacific region,” he said.
Morrison, who is in a state of business with China, said he had discussed the arrangements for the meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris in recent weeks. The meeting will be attended directly by the leaders concerned.
