Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): On Tuesday the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) filed a petition in the special CJM Court seeking permission to conduct the Test Identification (TI) parade of prime accused Biban Biswal in Anjana Mishra gang rape case.
The CBI Kolkata has also prayed court seeking remand of Biban, who was arrested from Maharashtra after absconding for 22 years.
Earlier on Monday, the Orissa High Court closed a petition filed by gang-rape survivor Anjana Mishra alleging lapses and conspiracy in the investigation carried out by the investigating agency.
The court’s decision followed two sets of affidavits filed by the Odisha government and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the case, stating that everyone including the prime accused in the gruesome crime have been brought to justice following their arrest.
Advocates representing the government and the CBI informed the court that there was no ground for the petition to prolong as the major parties in the case- the then Chief Minister JB Patnaik and former Advocate General (AG) Indrajit Ray- are no more.
Responding to the developments, survivor Anjana Mishra said, “The CBI should try to uncover the conspiracy theory. As already 22 years have passed, I will try to identify the accused.”
Anjana further said that the investigating agency should also try to find the persons who helped the accused Biban Biswal to escape from Odisha after the crime.
