Cuttack (SunstarTV Bureau): A petition filed by gang-rape survivor Anjana Mishra alleging lapses and conspiracy in the investigation carried out by the investigation agency, is now closed by the Orissa High Court on Monday.
The court’s decision followed two sets of affidavits filed by the Odisha Government and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is investigating the case, stating that everyone including the prime accused in the gruesome crime have been brought to justice following their arrest.
Meanwhile, advocates representing the government and the CBI informed in the court that there was no ground for the petition to prolong as the major parties in the case- the Chief Minister JB Patnaik and former Advocate General (AG) Indrajit Ray- are no more.
Further the court was convinced that there is no valid ground to carry forward the petition.
Pertaining to mention here that, the victim had filed the petition in 2002 in the High Court making former CM JB Patnaik and former AG Indrajit Ray parties. She had accused the duo of hatching a conspiracy to slow down the investigation.
Notably, the prime accused in the sensational gang rape case Biban Biswal, who was on the run for 22 years, was arrested by the Commissionerate Police from Maharastra recently. Later, Biswal was handed over to the Central probe agency for further investigation.
He was later produced in the CBI court for remand. Two CBI officials along with an advocate met police Commissioner Sudhansu Sarangi and discussed the next course of action.
