Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Special Relief Commissioner (SRC), Pradip Jena has issued advisory in a view to tackle the raising heat wave situation during summer in State.
Jena has written an advisory letter containing, “Since the summer season is fast approaching, I would request you to take immediate steps to put in place all preparedness and precautionary measures at different levels in your district to meet the possible heat wave situations,” to the district collectors.
He further said that, a ‘Heat Wave Action Plan’ has been developed by the Odisha State Disaster Management Authority (OSDMA) implementing a Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) for different departments, district administrations and others to combat with the heat wave condition.
Besides, SRC also directed to focus on immediate public awareness campaigns to check heat wave related illness and casualties. Further the district administrations are advised to pay special attention towards water scarcity and also to prepare plan for ensuring water supply for drinking and other uses through tankers to needed areas.
Meanwhile, Schools, Colleges and other Academic/ Technical institutions may have to be rescheduled to morning hours. Schools may also be advised to allocate some time during school hours to give heat wave precautionary tips to the students.
Apart, the timing of construction workers and laborers at worksite may be rescheduled. No work to be assigned in peak hours during heat wave period.
