Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Amid Covid-19 situation, the Higher Education Department of Odisha has decided to start classes for undergraduate first year students in online mode from March 1.
As per the decision, the department has directed colleges and universities across the State to commence the classes as following the decided row.
Saswat Mishra, the Higher Education department principal secretary has wrote a letter in this regard to Vice-Chancellors of all State Universities and principals of Government/Non-Government Degree Colleges.
According to letter, Mishra said, “As Covid-19 situation has not come under total control, it may not be now possible to commence physical classes for UG 1st Year students who have taken admission recently.”
“If teaching for these students is not started immediately, they will heavily lose on the academic front. Therefore, you are advised to start UG 1st Year classes in online mode from 01.03.2021,” Mishra wrote.
Besides, all the VCs and Principals are advised to follow the provided guidelines by the Higher Education Department dated June 19, 2020 on guided Self-Study while planning for coverage of the syllabus.
He further said that the physical classroom teaching has started from January 11, 2021 for Final Year U.G. and P.G. courses and from 10.02.2021 for P.G. 1st Year and U.G. pre-Final Year courses.
