Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): After the screening process has been started by the Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) on Thursday of all passengers, two symptomatic travelers have tested Covid positive, those arrived at the Biju Patnaik International Airport on Wednesday.
Among one of them has been kept under home isolation while the other has been admitted to the Sum Covid Hospital, informed Subhendu Sahoo, the BMC additional commissioner.
According to Sahoo’s given statement, “Two persons tested positive yesterday (Wednesday) while reports of others are awaited. From today onwards, we are conducting screening of travelers at the airport. If anyone is found with Covid-19 symptoms, he/she will undergo a test.”
Premchandra Choudhury, the BMC Commissioner informed that the screening tests are not mandatory for all. However, the affected area travelers include states as Maharashtra and Kerala are mandated for screening test.
The BMC began screening of travellers from today at the airport amid fears of Covid-19 resurgence on account of finding of new strains of the virus in some states, Maharashtra and Kerala in particular.
