Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has come up with an initiative collecting and distributing the usable clothes to the needy as a city level citizen driven activity.
Amid the initiative, a special vehicle with a banner ‘Wheel of Kindness’ has been designed where the vehicle contain different shelves for display of clothes with trial facility which will attract the intended user in a dignified manner. Different collection and distribution points will be chalked out throughout the city for smooth functioning of the activity.
“Recently BMC has selected a non-profit organization called VIKASH to start the initiative of collecting, washing and distributing usable clothes in the Temple City,” said Commissioner, Prem Chandra Chaudhary.
“A place in Madhusudan Nagar has been identified as Central Washing, Packaging and Inventory Management Centre (CWPIMC). Wheel of kindness is a new initiative of BMC which is going to be started in few weeks,” he added.
“Responding to the notice inviting Request for Proposal (RFP) on December 17, four nonprofit organisations had applied for the purpose whereas crossing four rounds of the selection process, one agency has been selected. Based on experience and other criteria the agency has been selected to start the initiative in the city,” said Additional Commissioner, Abanikanta Pattanaik.
