Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Supreme Court reportedly accepted the contempt of court petition filed by Odisha on Thursday while the hearings above the issue to be conclude on Friday, informed sources.
According to Odisha government filed petition, it has requested the apex court for implementation of court proceedings against adjoining Andhra Pradesh government as the letter has restored to holding the panchayat polls of certain border village Kotia Gram Panchayat in Odisha’s Koraput district despite the court’s earlier order of maintaining status quo in the disputed land.
The writ petition by Odisha government in the apex court on Wednesday, in the wake of Andhra Pradesh Election Commission’s formal notifications for holding the rural polls even in the chiefly three disputed villages of Kotia GP belonging to Koraput district in southern Odisha.
Notably, Andhra Pradesh has also reportedly renamed the three contentious Odisha villages in Telugu.
Pertaining to mention here that, the Supreme Court in its 1968 and 2006 verdicts had reportedly ruled to maintain the status quo in the disputed areas under Kotia GP.
