Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Odisha government on Tuesday has filed a writ petition in the Supreme Court challenging the Andhra Pradesh’s notification for holding of panchayat elections in three villages of Kotia of Koraput district.
Meanwhile, the writ petition on behalf of Odisha government has submitted by Supreme Court’s Advocate on Record (AOR) Sibo Sankar Mishra, informed sources
In the letter, Law Department Deputy Secretary Bhagaban Nayak said the Revenue and Disaster Management Department has been requested to contact the AOR with certified copy of judgment, original Vaklatanama duly executed in the AOR’s favour and other relevant records and instructions to enable the AOR file the writ petition on time.
Notably, a total of 15 residents from Koraput district had filed nomination papers for the panchayat polls which have been scheduled to be held on February 13 and 17.
On Monday, Laxmi Sabar, a resident of Gangabada in Gajapati district, withdrew her nomination for the post of ward member reportedly after intervention of the district administration.
