SunstarTV Bureau: The Special Task Force (STF) of Crime Branch has seized brown sugar weighing 1.14 kg following a raid in Bhadrak, on Tuesday.
The cost of the narcotics in the international market is believed to be over Rs 1 core.
As per reports, a team of STF conducted a raid at Bhadrak-Chandbali road after getting information about the transportation of the brown sugar consignment, on Monday.
The contraband was seized from one Minhaj Quadri of Shankarnagar area in Bhadrak district. The accused has been booked under section 21(c) and 29 of the NDPS Act, 1985.
As per official sources, the STF has been successful in seizing over 2.5 kg of brown sugar following raids in different parts of the State in the last 25 days. Over 2000 kg of Ganja has also been seized in the special drive.
Earlier, on January 19, the special task force (STF) of the State Crime Branch along with Commissionerate Police had seized 102 grams of brown sugar worth around Rs 10 lakh from Narayan Basti in Unit 8 area in Bhubaneswar.
