Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): The second consignment of Covishield vaccines dispatched from Serum Institute of India in Pune will reach Odisha on Tuesday afternoon, informed sources.
The State Health Department informed that a SpiceJet Cargo flight carrying the shipment from Pune is scheduled to land at the Biju Patnaik International Airport in the Capital City at around 4.25 pm. A total of 33,450 vials of Covishield will be delivered.
Meanwhile, after one day pause, the Covid-19 vaccination resumed in the State on Monday and a total of 380 sessions had been carried out. As many as 161 sessions were conducted during the launch of the vaccine on January 16. A total of 13,980 healthcare workers were vaccinated during the day.
Earlier on January 12, Odisha received its first consignment of Covishield. As many as 4.08 lakh doses of vaccines in 34 packets had arrived in Bhubaneswar.
The State received its second Covid vaccine on January 13 as a special plane carrying 20,000 vials of ‘Covaxin’ jointly developed by Bharat Biotech and Indian Council for Medical Research (ICMR) arrived at Bhubaneswar.
On January 3, the two vaccines as Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin and Oxford-AstraZeneca’s Covishield manufactured by the Serum Institute of India were approved for ‘restricted emergency use’ by the Drugs Controller General of India (DGCI).
