SunstarTV Bureau: The Chilika Development Authority (CDA) has begun the fourth annual flora and fauna survey in Chilika lagoon to assess the bio-diversity of the eco-system, today.
Sources said 18 teams have been engaged for the enumeration. According to officials, “All Boat Owners Associations and also PFCSs Members were requested not to ply the boats from 6A.M. to 12 Noon. So, visitors are requested not to visit Chilika during this period.”
Earlier on January 5, the annual bird counting was conducted at Chilika, Asia largest brackish water lagoon. As per the census, the lake has a record number of 11, 05,040 birds this year as against 10, 47,968 registered last year.
