Washington DC (SunstarTV Bureau): A week ahead of inauguration, the Pentagon has been deploying at least 20,000 National Guards with lethal weapons here, to prevent any violence as experienced on Capitol Hill violence on January 6, officials said.
Accordingly, 15,000 guards have already been deployed around the Capitol Hill and another 5,000 would be added around in January 20 on inauguration session of the elected President Joe Biden.
Sources said, security system has been tightened in and around the Capitol Hill as well as metal detectors and eight feet high metal walls were also erected overnight around the Capitol Hill.
However, about 16 groups have registered to stage protest and officials informed that law enforcement agencies were preparing for the possibility of armed conflict.
