SunstarTV BUREAU: The Indian Ministry of Railways, Piyush Goyal had took to the social media to share the pictures of World’s first and India’s only hospital train ‘Lifeline Express’, on Wednesday.
This Jeevan Rekha Express or Lifeline Express is the world’s first hospital train that covers the country’s remote areas, providing last-mile healthcare delivery and free treatment to people in need.
The 7-coach train is now stationed at Badarpur junction in Assam. It is a joint initiative of the Indian Railways, Impact India Foundation and Ministry of Health.

This train comes with air condition coaches and other high technology facilities along with the team of doctors on board along with this Lifeline Express is equipped with 2 modern operation theaters, 5 operating tables, sterilizing room, patient ward, a room for medical supplies and other medical facilities.
The Jeevan Rekha Express offers services for eye treatment, dental care, hearing issues, plastic surgical correction, epilepsy, counselling and referral services, Liaison with local health authorities, immunizations and other preventive measures.
Patients can also get their blood pressure, sugar levels checked onboard. The train also provides the X-ray facility to patients.
The first coach of the Lifeline Express is a power car that also has a staff compartment and pantry area. It is equipped with a kitchen, water purifier, gas stove and electric oven and refrigerator. The second coach consists of the medical store as well as two autoclave units.
