SunstarTV Bureau: After averting a clean sweep in the ODIs, India defeated Australia in the 1st T20 match, by 11 runs at the Oval Stadium, Canberra today.
India have started off on a winning note in the T20I series. Their T20 form in 2020 has been phenomenal.
Australia winning the toss, elected to bowl first. Where India set a score of 161 score at a loss of 7 wickets. Where, Australia could not chase the total run score by the end of 20 overs.
Australia met the defeat after Yuzvendra Chahal, replaced Ravindra Jadeja, as he got injured. The 12th player however took three vital wickets, leading India to win its first match in the T20I series.
Yuzvendra Chahal, getting Man of the Match said,” I have played so many games and was mentally fit. 10-15 minutes before the start of the innings, I got to know I will play. The way Zampa bowled, I tried to do the same as well. It was a little harder to score in the first innings. 150-160 is a good score on this wicket. I bowled according to my plans.”
A total of three T20s is to be played between both teams. India was eager to win this one after losing the ODI series. After winning the last ODI by 13 runs, Kohli’s men was looking forward to continue their fine form in the 20 over matches as well.
The playing 11 for India were :Sikhar Dhawan, Captain Vitar Kohli, Manish Pandey, Sanju Samson, Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar, Mohammed Shami, T Natarajan. KL Rahul and Sanju Samson.
