Puri (SunstarTV Bureau): For allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of Rs 10,000 Assistant Horticulture Officer, Ramakanta Parida was arrested by Vigilance officers of Bhubaneswar Division here on Wednesday.
According to reports, the officer had demanded an amount of Rs10,000 from one Jharana Samantray of village Bakugram under Balanga police limits in Puri district to approve spot visit report, that will enable her to get subsidy under Mission for Integrated Development for Horticulture (MIDH) scheme.
Samantray had lodged a complaint with the anti-corruption agency. Following which concealed trap was laid and Parida was caught red-handed by the Vigilance officers at his office room while accepting the money from Samantray.
A case under Section 7 PC (Amendment) Act, 2018 has been registered against Ramakanta’s name and further investigation is underway.
