Bhubaneswar (SunstarTV Bureau): Swarup Das of Biju Janata Dal, has wont fair and square with a leading vote count of 82,810 at Balasore sadar bypoll election with a lead of 13,395 votes.
Swarup was followed by BJP’s Manas Kumar Dutta with a total vote count of 69,415. Whereas Congress’s Mamata Kundu was left behind the race with lowest vote count of 4,901.
The counting of votes started at 8 am amid tight security arrangements and strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines. The bypolls were held on November 3.
The electoral fortunes of 6 candidates have been decided. The BJP had fielded Manas Kumar Dutta, the son of late MLA Madan Mohan Dutta, in the Balasore seat, while Swarup Das was the BJD candidate and the Congress nominated Mamata Kundu.
